Most community engagement frameworks assume the work moves in one direction: outreach, relationship, partnership, impact. The community is invited, the community responds, the partnership forms. But real engagement includes refusal.
Communities decline. Communities withdraw. Communities say not like this, not now, or not you.
Most practitioners have no framework for accountability about what to do when the community doesn’t receive its efforts. They retreat, push harder, or quietly write the community off as “not ready”. This workshop is for practitioners ready to take conflict, feedback and accountability as a gift and not a hindrance, and utilize it towards relationship building and long-term collective action.
